Big Day Out

I went to the Big Day Out!

It was my first time. The day started off with fine weather… and ended in a drenching. But in between was a day of great music and performances from an amazing line up of really wicked bands. We got there in time to catch the tail end of I Am Giant…

Then we headed up to the stands to see Deftones…

After going round the other stages, waiting in line for bar bracelets, waiting in line for the loos, waiting in line for food, we made our way back to the stands again for Wolfmother…

And straight after them was Shihad…

By then the rain was really coming down, and we decided to switch stands for our selected evening acts: Iggy and the Stooges (yeah, nah), Rammstein (omfg, what a show!), and finally Tool, where we made our way down from the stands where we’d been freezing our butts off, to go stand in the crowd and let body heat warm us up (a good move). By the time Tool’s set ended we’d pretty much had enough of the rain (along with many other folks) and made our way out. In a freak twist of the universe, we had a super-smooth exit from Mt Smart – straight out and no delays anywhere.

What an epic day!
